iClub students have been learning about stopmotion videos during their 30 minute lunch! They eat while I share directions and then finish lunch while they work! Here are some examples of the creative clips they've produced in a short time using the imotion app! They are learning that it takes a LONG time to make a SHORT video!
New Groningen students were asked to share What Makes Them Smile as a collaboration with the Grand Rapids Laughfest! We decided to do a digital version with iclub students using the chatterpix
I love having the iclub kids try new ideas out before tackling it with a whole class or grade level! At both schools iclubs have been working with the OurStory app to create digital books! The first week we just explored the app and played around with photos we already had on ipads or could take easily in the lab (like pictures of our lunch to make a "How to make a sandwich" story!) This week students were challenged to create books on current topics like MLK, Winter Activities, Character Trait themes at their school like Responsibility, or Valentine's Day to name a few. I love that they can share them via email to be printed or read digitally on an ipad when they are finished giving a real purpose to their work!
The iclub meets during lunch and gives us a chance to try some fun activities on our ipads. We showed some Christmas spirit while being creative and learning digital tools in the pic collage app during iclub today! Students took "selfies" and added a Christmas twist with stickers, editing tools like scissors, and drawings tools too! Here are some quick examples from 4th graders who like to create while they ate! :-)
Today we had our first meeting for iclub! Unfortunately we had to load garageband from the app catalog so we have to wait until next week to use it. We did get to try out the QR code reader though and finally figured out the answer to that QR code riddle that's been hanging in the hall for a few weeks!
Some students were able to practice reading a Halloween book and used the italk app for their first recording. Be thinking about a way you can add some sound effects to the recording next week and we'll share those out with other students for the upcoming holiday! See you next week!
